About the opportunity Reporting to the Media and Communications Director, the Editorial Assistant will contribute to the production of high-quality publications for the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (the Conference), supporting the work of the Catholic Church in Australia , the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC), its secretariat, agencies, offices, and councils, as well as the broader work of the Catholic Church and its ministries across the country. The Editorial Assistant will have the following responsibilities: Manage the information contained within the Official Directory of the Catholic Church in Australia (both print and online), including the review and update of information. Review Conference documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with approved style and branding. Assist senior Conference personnel with the preparation of published material (both print and online). Audit and review existing Conference documents to assess ongoing relevance and currency. Provide general administration assistance within the Media and Communications Department and wider Secretariat. Undertake other duties relating to the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference as required. About You We are seeking a dedicated and conscientious person to fill the position of Editorial Assistant, who thrives on building relationships and providing service excellence. Proactive with a keen eye for detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities while possessing a can-do attitude, ideal candidates will have the following skills and experience: An understanding of and willingness to work within the mission and identity of the Catholic Church. Excellent information systems and technology proficiency in CRMs/ databases; website / content management system maintenance; and Microsoft 365 including the MS office suite. A proven track record of contributing to high-quality content, with exceptional attention to detail. Outstanding time management and prioritisation skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to use initiative. Sound understanding and experience of working with confidential data and maintaining confidentiality, privacy and integrity in professional interactions. Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its organisational structures in Australia and experience using FileMaker or similar database management program would be highly regarded.
